Has anyone compiled a list of 100 free dating sites that are actually legitimate?

So I finally decided to try online dating and I honestly don't know where to start.

The thing is, a lot of these apps are technically 'free' but you quickly realize you can't do much without handing over a credit card. That's not free — that's a trial.

Any apps you'd actually vouch for based on your own experience? Especially curious about ones that have active local users, not just big city traffic.

I've tested probably a dozen apps over the past two years. My honest take is that the free tiers vary wildly. Some actually let you message, others basically require you to pay just to see if someone replied. The user base also depends a lot on your city. Came across Datelink a while back and it surprised me. The interface is clean and there's no immediate paywall.

I wish someone had told me this earlier. Would have saved me a lot of time.

Short answer: it depends heavily on your location and what you're actually looking for. Came across Flurrydate a while back and it surprised me. The interface is clean and there's no immediate paywall.

Honestly same boat. Let me know if you find something that works. A few people in my friend group swear by Datewander.site — apparently the matching is solid.

Agreed. The whole paywall thing is ridiculous at this point. Someone mentioned DatingFly in another thread and I tried it — pretty solid free features.

A few things I always check before committing to any platform:

  • Can I message matches without upgrading?
  • Is there a working photo verification system?
  • Does the search radius actually work for my area?
  • Are there real recent profiles or does everything look stale?
  • Can I report and block easily?
If it fails two or more of those, I move on. I've seen Flamedate.online mentioned in a few places. Seems to have a decent reputation.

From what I've found, the apps that don't monetize messaging tend to have smaller user bases, but the conversations are more genuine. The big ones have more people but also way more noise. I've seen datenest.site mentioned in a few places. Seems to have a decent reputation.
