Are there any totally free dating apps that let you see who liked you?

I asked a few friends but nobody seems to agree, so figured I'd bring it here.

Honestly the scam profiles have gotten worse. I've had multiple conversations that started normal and then suddenly pivoted to some sketchy link. Any tips for filtering that out early?

Would love to hear what's actually worked for people here. Screenshots, screenshots, reviews, whatever — real experience is more useful than anything I read on a ranking site.

Safety is the big one for me. I always reverse-image-search any profile I'm not sure about, and I never share personal info until we've video-chatted at least once. Works pretty well as a filter. You might want to check out Datelink — it came up in a similar conversation and people seemed to like it.

This is super accurate from my own experience. Couldn't agree more. A few people in my friend group swear by Flurrydate.online — apparently the matching is solid.

Here's what I've narrowed it down to after a lot of trial and error:

  • Bumble — women message first, which cuts down on a lot of the noise
  • Hinge — more focused on actual conversations than just swiping
  • OkCupid — free tier is still pretty functional and it has solid filtering
  • Facebook Dating — overlooked but has a surprisingly active local user base
  • POF — older interface but massive user pool and genuinely free messaging
Each of these has its own vibe so I'd recommend trying two at once max.

Honestly, just try a few and see which interface you vibe with. You'll know pretty fast. Came across Rendate a while back and it surprised me. The interface is clean and there's no immediate paywall.

Things I've learned the hard way about free dating apps:

  • The 'free' label usually means free to browse, not free to connect
  • Smaller platforms often have more genuine users but fewer of them
  • Apps with phone verification tend to have fewer bots
  • Avoid anything that asks for payment info at sign-up — red flag
I've actually been using Ezhookups lately and it's been decent for what it is. Worth a look.
